Admission Policy

Health Services Academy Islamabad offers admissions in doctoral, undergraduate and graduate programs in various disciplines. Admissions to different programs are offered in fall and spring semesters (twice a year) i.e. in Dec – Jan and July – Aug. There is no arbitrary age limit for the applicants. The institution is open to all persons of either gender and of any religion, color, creed, class or domicile who are academically qualified for the courses of studies offered by the Health Services Academy Islamabad. International students are encouraged to apply.

PhD in Public Health (03 years) Minimum CGPA 3.0 (out of 4.0 in Semester System) in MPhil/MS Public Health/MPH and Allied Health Discipline/FSPS or Equivalent
PhD Selection Criteria:

The allocation for determining merit shall be as follows:

  • Selection will be based on Qualification/academic record, Entry test, and Interviews. The assigned weightings would be: previous academic record 30%; Test 35%; Interview 35%;
  • Statement of Purpose (Two pager)
  • Interview on Research Topic
  • GRE/GAT Subject having minimum 70% marks, if international 60% marks would be acceptable)

Master of Science in Public Health (02 Years)

  • BS Nutrition and Dietetics/Equivalent
  • BS in Allied Health Related Disciplines
  • BS Nursing 04 years / Post RN BSN (02 years)

after RN, RM/post basic diploma in specialty (valid registration of all professional qualifications with PNC

The candidate with 16 years qualification in any discipline other than above mentioned may also apply in MSPH program provided that they possess a minimum 02 years of professional experience in Public Health areas MSPH Selection Criteria:

Selection Criteria of Undergraduate Programmes Candidates are required to appear in departmental admission test/ Undergraduate Studies Admission Test (USAT) and have to obtain at least 50% marks in admission test.

Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Management (01 Year)

Basic Qualifications
The candidate should possess one of the following qualifications or an equivalent degree from a recognized university or accrediting body.

  • MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery)
  • BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery)
  • B. Pharmacy (Bachelor’s in Pharmacy)/ D. Pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy) or M. Pharmacy (Master’s in Pharmacy)
  • BSc Nursing (Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing)
  • DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine)
  • Master’s Degree in a relevant subject such as Anthropology, Business Administration, Economics, Human Nutrition, Microbiology, Physiology, Psychology, Public Health Engineering, Sociology, Statistics and Zoology.
  • Or any other relevant qualification

Work Experience

The candidate should preferably have one years of full-time work experience (in the case of medical doctors, after the house job) in public health-related fields in either the private sector or the public sector, including the armed forces.

Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Entomology and disease Vector Control (MEDVC) (01 Year)

The candidate should possess one of the following qualifications or an equivalent degree from a recognized university or accrediting body.

  • M.Sc./BSc. Degree in Biology/Zoology/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Environmental Health sciences/ Agriculture Entomology and Pharmacy / Nursing
  • Or any other relevant qualification
  • MBBS/DVM/D. Pharmacy

Relevant MS/M.Sc./BSc. Degree (In Biological and Bio Medical Sciences)

The Program is also intended for student having Master and/or 04 years BA/B.Sc. degree with 2.5 CGPA out of 4.0 or equivalent in any field such as Anthropology, Business Administration, Economics, Human Nutrition, Microbiology, Physiology, Psychology, Public Health, Engineering, Sociology, Statistics and Zoology.

Diploma in Family Medicine (01 Year)
  • M.B.B.S from a P.M.C recognized medical college
  • Valid P.M.C registration
  • One-year House Job in a P.M.C recognized training
  • Or any other relevant qualification

Clinical experience of working in public or private primary health care facility will be preferred.

Diploma in Clinical Nutrition (01 year) Candidates holding a bachelor’s degree in nutrition, food or any similar field from a recognized university.
Diploma in Disaster Management (DDM) (01 year)
  • MBBS/BDS or 16 years of education in Health & Allied Sciences Discipline like MBBS, BDS. Nursing, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Agricultural Engineering, Animal/Plant sciences, Anthropology, Archaeology, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Commerce, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, Economics, Home Economics, Geology, Mass Communication, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Public Health, Management Sciences etc.
  • Or any other relevant qualification
  • Have Computer literacy.
Diploma in Professional HRM in Healthcare (16 weeks) Minimum 16 years of education from HEC recognized university. Or any other relevant qualification.
Diploma in Healthcare Administration (24 weeks)
  • BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration)
  • BS (Bachelor of Science in Business related subjects)
  • MBA (Masters of Business Administration)
  • MA/Msc (any subject with at least two years’ experience in HR related area in any health care organization)
  • MBBS (holding HR/Administrative portfolio in any healthcare facility or running own health care facility)
Diploma in GIS Mapping and Spatial Analysis (06 Months) Minimum 16 years of education from HEC recognized university. Or any other relevant qualification.

FCPS Community Medicine Part-II

Training Program Eligibility & Selection Criteria (as per approved HEC criteria)
FCPS Community Medicine Part – II FCPS Part – I Community Medicine qualified.
  • Submission of application forms is Monday, 17th 2022.
  • Admission form is available on HSA website www.hsa.edu.pk. Candidates are required to apply online, no paper copy will be entertained. Applicants are advised to upload all required documents, uploading of irrelevant document shall leads towards the cancellation of candidature.
  • Incomplete applications will not be entertained. Only short-listed candidates will be called for test/interviews.
  • No TA/DA is admissible for appearing in the test/interview.
  • Foreign students are encouraged to apply
  • Government employees can send their applications in advance. However, they are advised to complete formal process of NOC from their departments in order to enroll in the course.
  • The applicants are advised to confirm eligibility before online processing of admission form. Admission will be cancelled without any refund at any stage if a candidate/student is found ineligible as per advertisement OR any degree / certificate proves to be fake / unrecognized.
