Background
I am a Professor of Clinical Immunology and Epidemiology and the Director at the Health Services Academy (HSA), Islamabad.
I have a PhD in Epidemiology and Clinical Immunology from the University of Goteborg, Sweden. Prior to this, I completed an MCPS in Paediatrics the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Karachi. Apart from my teaching responsibilities, I am an active researcher and have over 100 publications to my credit in various areas related to health.
Teaching
I primarily teach courses on Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Research Methodologies, Nutrition, Immunology and Computer Applications in Public Health. At the Health Services Academy, I am both a Professor and the Director.
In addition to my responsibilities at the Academy, I am also a Professor in the Department of Social and Preventive Paediatrics, Fatima Jinnah Medical College, Lahore, an examiner at the Aga Khan University, Karachi, and have been an Associate Professor at the King Edward Medical College, Lahore.

Research
My main research interest is focused on integrating the evidence provided by applied research in policy formations at the national level, including areas such as HIV/AIDS, nutrition, nutritional rehabilitation, maternal and child health. Other research interests include:
- Biostatistics -- Data analysis using different standard statistical packages; SAS, SPSS, EPINFO, ETHNOGRAPH. Various large and smaller studies have given me the opportunity to increase my vision in using both standard and more recent statistical techniques both for quantitative and qualitative studies.
- Research methodologies -- To study the implications of study designs with special reference to Case-Control studies and their analyses.
- Mathematical modelling of growth using statistical modelling techniques in SAS.
- Developing a Data Management System for supporting, improving and promoting research facilities.
- Continued Medical Education and teaching skills
- Primary Health Care with reference to health care delivery systems and evaluation of interventions applied
- Continued interest in studying the immune responses to vaccinations, genetics, nutrition, maternal and child health, etc.
