Background

Dr. Zahid Ahmad Butt is a medical doctor and epidemiologist with extensive experience in the implementation and evaluation of nationwide immunization and infectious disease surveillance programs in Pakistan. He is currently working as an Assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Health Services Academy, Islamabad. He started his career as a senior instructor at Aga Khan University and later on joined WHO and UNICEF in their immunization programs. He has expertise in the design, conduct and analysis of large scale epidemiological studies. Dr Butt has been trained in epidemiology and biostatistics, data management of large datasets and their statistical analysis as well as grant writing.

  • The epidemiology of hepatitis B and C co-infection among HIV infected individuals in Michigan. The project was funded by a Dissertation Completion Fellowship worth 6,000 US$ received in 2009 from the school of graduate studies at Michigan State University. (Principal Investigator).
  • Assessment of the adverse effect of maternal tobacco consumption during pregnancy on birth outcome and obstetric complications in Karachi, Pakistan. Grant worth 5,790 US$ received in 2007 from Seed Money, Aga Khan University, Karachi. (Co-PI).
  • The Assessment of pharmacies at community level in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Grant worth 1000 US$ received in 2002 from Aga Khan University, Karachi. (Principal Investigator).
