Dr Jamil Ahmed is a public health professional and he did his medical degree from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro in 2002. He then completed his post graduation in Community Medicine from the department of Community health the sciences (CHS) Aga Khan University (AKU) Karachi in 2009. In 2010 received the prestigious World Bank graduate scholarship award to study Masters in Public Health from the Nuffiled Center for international Health and Development (NCIHD) at the university of Leeds UK. He completed the Masters and joined Health services Academy in the year 2011.
He worked in multiple projects in the department of CHS at AKU. Most notable included the pioneering public private mix model on increasing the Tuberculosis case detection and implementation in a district of Sindh which was funded through TDR grant of WHO. He also worked in projects, surveys and research studies related to immunization, Hepatitis-B, Child Health and nutrition. He has done consultancies to write some international and national reports including the TB report for WHO, road traffic injuries report for EMRO-WHO and water and hygiene report for Water Aid UK.
He also possesses teaching experience and has been involved in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has written his FCPS and MPH dissertation on the subject of malnutrition in children in Pakistan. He has been published in peer reviewed scientific papers internationally and nationally. He is contributing in writing proposals and implementing projects at HSA.
