Background

Dr. Ejaz Ahmad Khan is one of the highly recognized Public Health Specialists in Pakistan and abroad. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Academy and pursuing Mphil/PhD at the LSHTM, UK. He has held key responsibilities in the Ministry of Health in managing disasters and emergencies and represented the Ministry in the NDMA. In this context he held the post of Manager HEPR. He started his career as Medical Officer in year 2000. After a few months, he joined the Academy as Instructor. Dr Khan obtained Thai government scholarship for Master in PHC and obtained the degree with distinctive grades. He has been involved in a number of courses including child health, population dynamics, health systems, environmental and occupational health, disaster management and research process at the academy. He is also an instructor and coordinator of Hospital Preparedness for Emergencies Course, which is a regional course. Dr Khan is a master trainer for MISP initiative for Reproductive Health in crisis. Dr Ejaz has also been on various national level committees on behalf of then Ministry of Health and of the Academy. He has represented the Academy and the country in several national and international seminars and conferences. Dr Khan has played pivotal role in establishing healthcare waste management among the hospitals in Pakistan. In this context, he co-authored national action plan for HCWM with a team of professionals. He is also one of the authors of National Drinking Water Quality Standards. He also played a key role in developing occupational health manual for primary healthcare workers.
