International students are encouraged to apply
to the Health Services Academy for the MSPH
& EMSPH programme.
This page covers some of the differences in the application
process and study experience for international students
and that for Pakistani students.
Application Procedures
There are some differences in the application
procedures for international MSPH& EMSPH applicants compared
to those for Pakistani students. These are as follows:
- International students from non-English speaking countries
are given preference if they submit attested photocopies
of any English proficiency tests they
have taken, such as IELTS or TOEFL. A minimum TOEFL
score of 450 on the paper-based test or 200 on the computer-based
test is recommended; a minimum IELTS score of 6 is recommended.
- The deadlines for international students are twenty
days later than the regular deadlines. The application
deadline is August 18, 2010 .for the completed application for the MSPH & EMSPH
programme. Please ensure that we receive your completed
application in time for this deadline.
- International students are not required
to take the screening examination or sit for the interview
if they are not resident within Pakistan. However, they
are required to send in two
sealed, confidential letters of reference from
teachers, employers and/or supervisors.
Fee Structure
The fee structure for international students is different
from that for Pakistani students. Since HSA is affiliated
with the Quaid-i-Azam University, the dues are for both
the University and HSA itself. Both Pakistani and international
students have to pay the amount to the Quaid-i-Azam University.
However, the fees due to the Health Services Academy are
different for international students.
The detailed fee
structure applicable to international students that
indicates the dues for the Health Services Academy is
shown on the Health
Services Academy (HSA) dues page.
Financial Assistance
At the moment, HSA is not providing financial assistance
to international applicants. Applicants are encouraged
to seek stipends from their respective country governments,
or to contact development organisations such as the World
Health Organization (WHO), bilateral organisations,
etc.
Accomodation
Accomodation facilities are given on need basis and through proper channel.
Both Pakistani and international students will have to
arrange for their own accomodation for now. Please see
the section on accomodation
for details.
