“Computer Applications & Network”

Aim

The Aim for Computer Applications and Network course is to train the doctors and Non doctors with the current use of all the computer applications and their advantages and how they can apply this course in the practical field of Research and study.

Objectives:

By the end of this course students will be able to:

•  High quality knowledge of the computer applications which includes Ms Word. Excel, power point, outlook, windows installation, basic networking, SPSS coding to data entry and ways to use these applications with respect to their field of study.

•  Students will become proficient in their skill of basic computer software as well as multidisciplinary projects such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, Web page searching and windows installation.

•  Students will also have an opportunity to conduct research on the internet, explore new technological innovations, examine technology-related careers and speculate about future computer applications.

•  High quality knowledge about computer architecture, computer software and hardware, MS Office Package, Networking and SPSS Coding to data entry with practice .

Outline

Conceptual outline for Computer Application and Network course includes" Introduction to computer & role in Public Health, Computer Hardware parts, Software programs and use of Antivirus, Spy wares, Ad ware, Firewalls, and Installation of programs and add/remove hardware (Practical), User account Management and methods to speed up the Windows (Practical), Installation of complete Windows and typing guidelines with typing program (Practical), Working and use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, outlook (Practical), Communication System of our Networks, LAN/WAN and Networking Topologies, Introduction of Internet, www, Protocols and all the web browsers and searching techniques. Creating new Email Accounts & intro to web hosting and Graphics (Practical), Intro to SPSS and use in the Public Health. SPSS data entry full procedure through forms (Practical)".

Teaching Strategy

Students participate in a combination of lectures and practical. Lectures introduce concepts. Ideas and clarify theories. Practical are practical use of computer applications, computer hardware. Networking and SPSS coding with data entry. In the middle of the course there will he one mid term exam and in the end of the course there will be final exam for the short course to access the learning level of the students.

Learning Time

Computer Applications and Network course time will be after the official time of the Health Services Academy and it will be from 16:30 to 18:00, four days in a week Monday to Thursday.

Course Duration

This course duration will be one month and this course will be continuous after the completion of one batch and second batch will be start after the end of one batch and next batch of minimum ten students are completed.

Assessment

Course assessment will be taken from the students after everyone week in the forms for suggestions and additions in the course.

Course Diploma

Course Diploma for Computer Applications and Network will be approved and given with the signatures of Director and IT Instructor of Health Services Academy, Islamabad and will be given after the completion of the whole course.

Expenses

Course Charges will be 4000/ per candidate and new batch will be started as soon as the batch is completed.Limited seats available.
